Fashion + Style Monday Must-Haves

After attending the Lucky FABB conference this past week, I returned home rejuvenated and inspired to continue my blogging journey. One of the speakers at the event was Kelly Osbourne. I really enjoyed hearing her speak and was pleasantly surprised to find out she is just as down-to-earth as she seems on TV. The style advice that she gave that I wholeheartedly agree with was this:

“Put your money in your shoes and your handbags and one good blazer and buy everything else vintage or high street. If they see your red sole, they’re gonna think, ‘Oh, that girl’s doing alright,’ because they’re stupid. They don’t know!”
— Kelly Osbourne

Inspired by Kelly’s advice I’ve decided to put together a dream outfit with three designer items that would be a good long-term investment for my wardrobe. We all know I’m usually a big fat cheapo when it comes to shopping but a girl can dream can’t she?
First up the blazer: I chose Helmut Lang’s Crux Wool Blazer. I love the cut and the leather details are just the right amount of edgy and sleek. At $695 this is hardly a steal, but this is one piece that would make a great statement in any girl’s closet.
As for the shoes, naturally I picked the red sole Kelly mentioned, aka every girl’s dream: Christian Louboutins. I chose a classic black pump called “Pigalle” that I would try and wear with everything if I had a chance to own these lovelies.

And now for the purse. This was a tough call because I’m not that into purses but when I thought for a minute about the dream bag I’d love to own it came to me surprisingly quickly: Chanel. The ubiquitous name speaks for itself. Even the biggest bag dummy knows the influence and timeless appeal of a quilted Chanel handbag.

There you have it, my three designer picks I’d love to one day add to my closet. Though I think I’ll always be a thrifty shopper at heart, there’s something to be said about owning a few luxurious, designer items. Clearly, they’re priced high for a reason. These are high-end products that are made to last. But to me, aside from investing in a few key pieces, owning your sense of style is the best thing you can do to look and feel beautiful.

What are some designer items you dream of owning? I’d love to hear.

I was walking behind a girl wearing Louboutins on my way to work today and I did think she looked pretty chic — I guess Kelly's advice is spot on 🙂 I agree with putting money into handbags, too, because that is something that definitely catches my eye. I bought a nice caramel colored MK purse a little while ago and feel so confident when carrying it.

I have thought about painting the bottom of my shoes red to try and fake the Louboutin look lol I do agree with Kelly's advice, that red sole always catches my attention! And I love MK purses, I feel the same way about the Marc Jacobs one I have, I feel fancy wearing it! 🙂

Ania you are so right! I would love to invest in high end pieces that I know will last. The older I get the more I gravitate toward things that may be more expensive, but are also things I know are high quality and I can have for a long time 🙂
