do this: appreciate beautiful art

So I am definitely not the type of person who knows anything about fine art aside from the fact that I have a deep appreciation for it. But then again, there’s nothing wrong with that I guess. And there is certainly nothing wrong with noting the beauty of pieces that you enjoy.

While perusing Pinterest I stumbled upon these gorgeous images that immediately grabbed my attention. At first glance I thought they were photographs but after a quick online search I discovered they are paintings created by South African artist Philip Barlow.

While all his paintings are incredible, I especially loved these ones that appear in a collection called “The Sea.” I literally felt like I’d stepped right on this beach and was squinting to make out the figures in front of me. You know the feeling I’m talking about, when you get up after laying for hours in the sun and try to make sense of your surroundings. These paintings totally nailed it.

It’s crazy to think that this is not a blurred photograph but rather an oil on canvas painting. I’m so grateful that there are incredibly talented people in this world who produce such amazing works for the rest of us to enjoy. For more of this talented artist visit his website.
