see this: Jane’s Carousel in NYC

While in New York a few weeks ago, I tried to take in as much of the city as I could and really explore new places. I came across Jane’s Carousel on this sweet blog and immediately knew I wanted to check it out.

Located in the DUMBO section of the Brooklyn Bridge Park (right in between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges,) the classic carousel was built in 1922. After being purchased by a developer in 1983, it was slowly but surely restored to its original condition and re-opened to the public in 2011. The end results are simply beautiful.

Yes I totally indulged my inner kid, rode on the carousel and absolutely loved it. Though some could argue that this is a more age-appropriate activity for children, I think it would make a perfect date night as well. And a cheap date at that, with admission for the carousel only $2 and ice cream about $5 you’re looking at less than $10 for a fun and unique outing.
I spent the day with my fabulous (and equally NYC-loving) friend, Kika and we had a great time riding on the carousel, eating ice cream and checking out the gorgeous views of the Manhattan skyline. Definitely a fun thing to check out next time you’re in the New York area.
