do this: ride on the napa valley wine train

For our anniversary weekend we decided a trip to Napa Valley would be the perfect way to commemorate the occasion (and of course an excuse to indulge in some wine drinking). While there, one of our main activities was a trip on the Napa Valley Wine Train. This wasn’t our first time visiting the area, but we’d heard great things about the wine train and were really excited to finally give it a try.

Since it was a big night for us, we splurged and rode in the vista dome car which offered us some breathtaking views of the valley. We rode on the dinner train so we could maximize our daytime wine tasting and also catch a lovely sunset while on our three-hour journey through the heart of the wine region.

Couldn’t resist some shots on the train πŸ™‚

Now aside from the views, the main attraction of the wine train is most definitely the food! This was our menu, I mean seriously I think the cuisine would leave any foodie completely satisfied. The quality and presentation really were top notch and made the experience that much more enjoyable. And of course there is delicious wine (and drinks) available to complement your meal, or you can bring your own bottle for a corkage fee of $15.

During dinner, our wonderful and very knowledgeable server pointed out highlights along our route including history about the region and some great tips about which wineries to visit. The entire experience was amazing and a great memory for our first wedding anniversary. I highly recommend checking out the Napa Valley Wine Train the next time you’re in the area! Cheers!
